Our Story – a family run pub in the beautiful Wiltshire town of Mere
This is the third incarnation of the Walnut Tree Inn. The original building was built around 1840 and stood until 1938. At this time, it was one of many pubs in Mere. In recent years, the Old Ship Hotel was redeveloped but the Grade II listed Talbot Hotel, now the George Inn, and the Butt of Sherry which opened circa 1894, are still in existence today.
The current Walnut Tree Inn was built in 2005 and has been extended twice to incorporate two lovely eating areas. The Glass Room at the front and the Conservatory Room to the rear offer additional indoor / outdoor dining spaces suitable for events that can be used at all times of the year.
